This week, Roy wanted to make some sort of scrumptious savoury biscuit. Roy has been doing a lot of work recently, and sometimes he feels the need for a little treat, but he has been craving savoury treats, not sweets. I recalled seeing a recipe for cheesy rice bubble biscuits some time ago, but I could not remember where. Luckily, one of our friends knew what I was talking about and pointed us in the right direction! Roy wasn’t sure about the idea of rice bubbles in cheese biscuits, but the results were so scrumptious that they spoke for themselves. So this week, Roy Creates Scrumptiously Cheesy Rice Bubble Biscuits.
You Will Need:
- 1 cup of rice bubbles
- 1 cup of plain flour
- 1 cup of grated cheese. Roy used a combination of tasty cheddar and parmesan
- ½ a teaspoon of salt
- Cayenne pepper to taste
- 125 grams of butter or margarine
- Poppy seeds to sprinkle
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and line biscuit trays with baking paper
- Mix together the cheese, flour, salt, cayenne pepper and rice bubbles
- Melt the butter (Roy does this in the microwave, just be careful not to burn it)
- Add the butter to the dry ingredients and mix until combined
- Roll spoons of the mix into balls (Roy used about 1 dessertspoon full of mix per biscuit)
- Place on the baking trays and gently press down with the palm of your hand
- Sprinkle generously with poppy seeds
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden and delicious smelling
- Cool on wire racks, and store in an airtight container
- Enjoy!
