This week, Roy was looking for something delicious, warm and hearty as a dessert for a group of friends who were visiting for dinner. He thought through many different puddings, and looked through several cookbooks, but decided on the end to make a classic, old fashioned bread and butter pudding. Roy loves bread and butter pudding, and has noticed that many modern recipes make a proper custard before soaking the bread, but his old recipes are much simpler, so he thought it would be great to share one with his online friends. So this week, Roy Creates A Quick And Simple Bread And Butter Pudding.
You Will Need:
- 8 pieces of raisin bread
- Butter
- ½ a teaspoon of cinnamon
- Vanilla essence to taste
- 3 eggs
- 900 millilitres of milk
- 3 dessertspoons of sugar
Method:
- Grease a large baking dish before starting
- Spread the slices of bread generously with butter and cut in halves (triangles)
- Lay the slices of bread, slightly overlapping, in the baking dish. You want to have 2 layers of bread
- Mixtogether the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon
- Pour the milk and egg mix over the bread and set the pudding aside to soak for 20 to 30 minutes
- Bake the pudding at 180 degrees celcius for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the custard is set and the whole pudding is browned and delicious
- Let the pudding cool a little before serving with icecream
- You can reheat leftovers in the microwave, or under foil in the oven
