This week, Roy decided he wanted to make something warming and delicious for a lunchtime treat, to share with his Grandma. It was a cold day, and he happened to notice a packet of round wraps (or tortillas) in the fridge, just begging to be used. Roy loves quesadillas, but he has noticed that many of his friends don't know what they are, let alone how to cook them! He thought some of his friends would think the treat was wonderful, so decided to share the 'recipe'. Of course, Roy just used what he had on hand - you could use anything you liked to fill the quesadilla, just remember you need something to act as 'glue' - Roy likes to use cheese. So this week, Roy Creates Tomato And Onion Quesadillas.
You Will Need:
- 2 tortillas or round wraps.
- Cheese - you can use grated, or cut slices like Roy did
- 1 tomato
- ½ a large red onion
- Salt and pepper to taste
Method:
- Start by slicing your cheese (if not using grated) and chopping your onion and tomato. You want small enough pieces that they can be scattered across the whole quesadilla.
- In a large frying pan, place one wrap or tortilla.
- Cover the tortilla with a thin layer of cheese.
- Scatter over the tomato and onion
- Add salt and pepper, to your taste
- Top with another thin layer of cheese.
- Cover the whole thing with the second wrap or tortilla
- Place the frying pan over a medium heat and cook until the cheese is melting
- Now, you need to flip your quesadilla. Roy does this by putting a plate over the whole quesadilla, flipping the whole frying pan, so that he is holding the quesadilla on the plate, and then sliding the quesadilla back in, uncooked side facing down.
- Cook until the cheese is all melted and the wrap or tortilla is crisp and delicious
- Cut into wedges and enjoy!
