This week, with the weather being quite cold where Roy lives, Roy decided he would like to make something delicious to accompany soup. Roy loves soups, especially when the weather turns cold, and he also loves to have a nice, warm loaf of bread to accompany his meal. Making bread can be a bit of a hassle though, especially if you are in a hurry, so Roy often just heats up a loaf. There is one loaf though which is not only quick to make, but delicious with soup – Cheese Loaf. Roy found this recipe in one of his old cookbooks some time ago, and the results are spectacular. What’s more, the leftovers make excellent toast. So this week, Roy Creates Quick and Tasty Cheese Loaf.
You Will Need:
- 2 cups of self raising flour
- 1 cup of grated cheese
- A pinch of salt
- Cayenne pepper to taste
- 1 egg
- ¾ of a cup of milk
- ¼ of a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 200 degrees celcius and line a loaf tin with baking paper
- Sift together the flour, salt, cayenne pepper and bicarbonate of soda
- Add the cheese and stir
- Beat the egg and milk together and pour into the dry ingredients
- Mix everything thoroughly
- Pour the batter into the tin and spread out
- Bake for about 45 minutes or until cooked
- Enjoy this loaf warm with soup or stew, or put it aside for later.
- This loaf makes excellent toast, and actually keeps reasonably fresh until the next day.
