This week, Roy wanted to make something old fashioned, simple and delicious. He asked his Grandma for permission to look in her cookbook and flipped through until he found a well marked, slightly sticky page. He asked Grandma what it was on the page which she obviously made regularly, and she said it was chocolate shortbread stars. He decided to give them a go, and wanted to share the recipe with you. So this week, Roy Creates Chocolate Shortbread Stars.
You Will Need:
- 125 grams of butter or margarine
- 3 tablespoons of castor sugar
- ¾ of a cup of plain flour
- ¼ of a cup of cornflour
- A packet of chocolate stars. Roy could only buy a mix of chocolate, milk and malt stars and freckles, but these all work just fine too. You will need about 30 stars for the biscuits.
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celcius and line two biscuit trays with baking paper
- Cream the butter and sugar together
- Sift the two flours together and add to the butter and sugar mix.
- Mix the flour in thoroughly
- Roll teaspoons of the mix into balls and put onto the baking tray (you can fit 16 or so to a tray as they do not spread)
- Press a chocolate star into the centre of each biscuit
- Bake for 10 minutes or until golden
- Cool, store in an airtight container and enjoy
