This week, Roy wanted to make something sweet and delicious, but he also wanted to do it in a hurry. He had friends coming over so he needed a cake or biscuits to feed them, but he had a lot of things to do and not enough time to fiddle with dough or batter. He needed something super easy to make which would give him time to do those other things. His Grandma told him about a recipe for Sultana Cake which she had used a lot when I was little, and which was easy to make. It is a simple recipe and makes a delicious cake, so Roy thought it would be perfect. So this week Roy Creates Quick And Easy Sultana Cake.
You Will Need:
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup of sultanas
- 30 grams of butter or margarine
- 1/2 a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
- 2 cups of self-raising flour
- 1 egg
Method:
- Prepare a loaf tin and preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- Measure the water, sugar, sultanas, butter and bicarbonate of soda into a big saucepan and melt them together on the stove, stirring frequently.
- Measure out your flour and put it aside.
- Break your egg into a small bowl and lightly beat it with a fork.
- Bring the sugar and sultana mix to the boil (you want it to foam) and then remove from the heat.
- Add the flour and stir it into the hot, foaming mix.
- Add the egg and very quickly stir it into the mix.
- Pour into the prepared tin and bake for 45 minutes or until it is golden and a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean.
- Cut and enjoy!
