Recently, one of Roys friends, Margaret, gave him a recipe for an Apple Cake. Roy loves cake, and particularly likes the ones with apple filling, and had been looking for an easy recipe to make one for some time. When Margaret gave him the recipe, he knew he would have to try it. A few days later, he felt like baking, so decided to give the cake a go. He was thrilled with the results and asked Margaret if she would mind him sharing the recipe with his online friends. She gave him permission, so this week, Roy Creates Margaret's Delicious Apple Cake.

Imagine, you are a little girl. You are living in 1946, and the war has just finished. It is your Birthday today, and you know not to expect too much – after all things are still hard and rationing and shortages still apply. Still, you have the best present of all, Daddy is home! He says he has something special for you, which he made while he was away. When you open the little box, you find a simple ring, which fits your little fingers perfectly. Apparently, he made it from a piece of a crashed Japanese plane!

This week, with the sun making a welcome appearance, Roy decided it was the perfect day to head to the coast and enjoy some traditional seaside fare. Roy loves fish and chips, and thinks that, on a nice sunny day, there is nothing better than sitting beside the sea, soaking up the sun, enjoying a delicious lunch. There are many fantastic places to enjoy fish and chips, but Roy thinks one of the best, as well as the most interesting, is Doyles in Watsons Bay.

This week, Roy has been doing a bit of impromptu entertaining. He loves having people over for meals, but also likes to have something tasty to offer, yet sometimes when people come over on short notice, he has very little time to make something. He wanted to make a nice, light dessert, but didn't have time to set jellies or mousse, so he asked his Grandma if she had anything in her cookbook which he could use. She suggested an old recipe she had for a berry dessert using cream, tinned berries and fresh strawberries. When he made it, Roy thought it was great, so this week Roy Creates Quick And Easy Berry Dessert.

Imagine, you are a woman living in the 1920s. It is Valentines Day and you are going out dancing with your fiance. You are dressed in your best dress and hat, and wearing a new necklace which you simply adore. Your fiance sent it over this morning as an early Valentines surprise, and you want to wear it for him. It is a bakelite necklace, made out of the hard plastic which you so often see in household items. It is amazing stuff - the things you can do with it, even make intricately carved beads! You know it probably didn't cost a lot, but it is just so 'you'. He chose well!

This week, Roy decided that he wanted to head towards the Blue Mountains for his weekly outing. Recently, we had purchased a very old tourist guide to the Blue Mountains and noticed that in the guide, there was mention of convict graves on Pulpit Hill, behind the Explorers Tree. Roy was really intrigued by this possibility because we have visited Pulpit Hill (you can read about his visit by clicking here), and had never heard anything about convict graves. Roy just had to see what we could find. We eventually located the 'graves', and Roy was so surprised by this secret place that he thought he would share it with his online friends.

This week, Roy has been craving one of his old time favourites. Lemon syrup cake is one of Roys favourite cakes, one which he generally avoids having on hand because he can't resist it. It is also one of the cakes which his Grandma and his Great Grandma made a lot when I was a little girl. When Roy discovered I was having friends over for afternoon tea, he thought this would be the perfect excuse to make the cake, but not eat too much of it - after all he would have to share. So this week, Roy Creates Yummy Lemon Syrup Cake.

Imagine, you are a young woman. You, like so many of your friends, love to get new pieces of jewellery, but you always want something a bit different, something which will stand out from the crowd. Having 'normal' jewellery is simply no fun! Recently, you saw a beautiful piece in a shop, a piece made with a fossil. You hadn't seen a fossil like it before - it was shiny and colourful and sparkling. You simply had to have it. You'd never even thought you could make fossils into jewellery before now.

This week, with his online friends going back to school, Roy thought it would be a perfect time to take them to a place which they might be able to visit in the course of the school year. He thought a library would be a perfect place to visit because it is the sort of place people might need to go for school work. Many libraries have fascinating secrets, from statues and works of art, to secret nooks and crannies and Roy loves them all. This week he thought he would show you the secrets of Gordon Library - a secret garden and a tiny museum!

This week, Roy has been craving lemon butter to have on his morning toast. He loves lemon butter, but the type you can buy at the shops just isn't quite what he was after. He wanted the real, homemade type of lemon butter, but I didn't want to supervise the long process of him making it on the stove. Roys Grandma kindly let us use her recipe for lemon butter instead, which takes only about 10 minutes in total to make and is made in the microwave! She found it in a microwave cookbook years ago, but isn't sure what happened to the book. It was just what Roy was after, and so he decided to share it. So this week Roy Creates Microwave Lemon Butter.
