This week, Roy was asked by one of the children if he knew a recipe for peanut and chocolate biscuits. This was a bit of a dilemma for Roy because when he asked his Grandma, she didn’t have one! Luckily, one of her friends was able to hand over an old recipe she has used for years and when Roy tried it out, he was really pleased with the result. Most of his choc chip biscuits are chewy, but these ones have a bit of crunch along with a slightly soft centre, which he really liked. So this week, Roy Creates Peanut Butter Choc Chip Cookies.
Of course, if you are allergic to nuts, don’t try this recipe!

Imagine, you are a glass maker, working on making bottles to use for salad oil. You have already blown the glass into the moulds, and they have come out beautifully. Now, you just need to assemble the pieces of the bottles so that they can be sold. It is nearing the end of the day and you have been working on putting the bottles together for some time, heating the glass and pressing the pieces together, over and over again. Then, as you put the last bottle together, you slip and the neck goes on crooked.

With the holidays upon us and the weather just beginning to warm up, Roy decided it was a perfect time to head towards the central west. He loves this area, and knows lots of people head towards Orange and Bathurst for their September holidays to see the beautiful countryside. However, he also knows of several hidden gems in the area which, although they are featured on tourist maps and in guides, are all too often overlooked. This week, Roy thought he would take you to just of these places, Millthorpe, which he visited recently.

Recently, Roy has been doing quite a bit of entertaining, so he has been buying lots of savoury biscuits to have with dip and cheese. This leaves him with a bit of a problem though. In every packet, there are broken biscuits which he doesn’t put out for guests, and there are always biscuits left over at the end. What was he going to do with them? His Grandma suggested he try an old recipe she likes for tuna bake which uses crushed up savoury biscuits, and when he tried it he loved it. So this week, Roy Creates Tuna Bake Slice.
Note: This bake is good hot or cold. If you want to eat it hot, let it sit for a few minutes to set before cutting it. You can also take it on a picnic or in a school lunch box.

Imagine, it is 1923 and you are living in Germany. The war is over and you have been hoping things will get better for your country, but they only seem to get worse. Each week the mark is worth less, and it takes more to buy eggs, milk and a loaf of bread. You remember early last year you could by an egg for just 3.60 marks, but now, in May 1923 a single egg costs 2400. Milk was just 7 marks, now it costs 3800. When will it end?

This week, Roy was thinking about how it would soon be getting warm and baby animals would be being born. This made him think about Australia's farming history, and how people were able to farm the land, raise animals and move them from place to place in such a hot and often dry land. Roy is always fascinated by the way in which people manipulated the land and the resources to allow farming to take place in Australia, and one of the places he finds most interesting is the Cattle Tank in Campbelltown. He thought this would be a perfect place to visit this week.

This week, with Spring just getting under way, Roy decided that he wanted to enjoy the last cool weather with a couple of soups and stews. He remembered he had made several of these to show his online friends over Winter, but hadn't shared any breads to serve with them. He loves warm bread with soup and stews, and has several quick and easy breads he enjoys making. One of his favourites is cornbread. It is light, moist and delicious and absolutely perfect with a stew or a soup. He thought this would be a perfect recipe to share with you, so this week Roy Creates Easy Cheesy Cornbread.

Imagine, you are a woman living in America in the early 1940s. The war is underway and you are doing everything you can to help the war effort. You are busy knitting socks, baking cakes and generally helping out where you can. You wish you could join the services with your daughter, but you have younger children to look after. You do your bit though, and after you discovered she had been issued a tube of lipstick 'to keep morale up', you went out and purchased one too. After all, you have to do your bit!

Recently, some of Roys friends have been studying Banjo Paterson's poetry at school. Banjo Paterson is one of Australia's most famous and most loved poets. He wrote many poems which have become important parts of Australia's folklore, including Waltzing Matilda, which is today almost a National Anthem! Children always seem to enjoy his poetry, yet often know very little about the man who wrote it. Roy thinks this is a shame, and decided it would be the perfect time to show his friends the place where this famous poet was born.
