
This week in Sydney, there has been a burst of unseasonably warm weather, which made Roy think it was Spring. Although we both knew it was still Winter, the burst of Spring warmth reminded Roy of several peasant spring and summer days spent in Canberra smelling the roses and he decided it would be a shame not to tell his friends about the Rose Gardens at Old Parliament House. Not only are the gardens beautiful, they are full of history and when the roses are in flower the air is heavy with their perfume.

Many of Roys friends are great fans of lasagne, though often they buy a premade one at the shops. Recently though, one or two of them have asked Roy if he knows how to make lasagne. Now Roy has a few recipes for lasagne, from the traditional made with bechamel sauce to the thoroughly modern cheese and spinach. He thought that, for a first try, the best to show you would be the simple one he makes when he has a craving. It uses ricotta instead of traditional bechamel sauce, and doesn't involve slaving away over a hot stove. In fact it is perfect for children to make! So this week, Roy Creates Easy, Healthy Lasagne.

Imagine, it is the early 1920s and you are going to the movies. It's so exciting, going to the big movie theatre, and watching the lights dip. Then, a movie starts to play. Magic! It isn't very long, and there's no sound, just a piano being played but it's so exciting. After all, you've never seen a movie before! You also know there should be more to come, with another movie being prepared for showing right now. In the mean time, there is a magic lantern showing advertising pictures. After the next film has been shown, you hear there will be a sing along with the magic lantern showing the lyrics. What fun!
